Becoming a Christian

IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN HEAVEN?

Everyone has a name.  Names are important.  All of us deeply appreciate those who know our names and can call us by our names.  Does God know your name?  Does whether God knows your name make any difference?  The Bible tells us that God has a book of names, called the book of life.  The Bible, God's word tells us that persons whose names are not written in the book of life will be separated from God forever.  (Revelation 20:15)  If our names are not in the book of life, this means Jesus does not know us.  Unless our names are written in that book, we will hear Jesus say, "I never knew you.  Away from me, you evildoers!" (Matthew 7:23).  However, your name can be written in that book today.

Read the following and write your name in the blanks as you read.

For God so loved ____________ .  God loves each person in the world, and He loves you.  He loves you so much "that He gave His one and only Son" (John 3:16).  That Son is Jesus.  God's only Son came and died on a cross for you to save you from your sin.  That if _____________ "believes in Him" (Jesus).  "Believe" means that, convicted of your sin by the Holy Spirit, you repent by turning away from sin toward God and place your faith in Him.

______________ "shall not perish, but have eternal life"  (John 3:16).

If you do what God's Word says, your name will be written in the book of life and you will have the abundant life Jesus promised to those who follow Him. (John 10:10).  The Bible also says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).  Will you pray right now and ask Jesus to save you?  If so, tell God in prayer that you know you are a sinner.   Repent of your sin, ask Him to forgive you, and ask Jesus to save you right now.

Then share your newfound faith in Jesus with a pastor or Christian friend.  Becoming a Christian is your first step on the lifelong road of spiritual growth and service God desires for you.
